Taladoon is an open and independent civic platform for the purpose of allowing citizens to communicate with each other and to discuss and influence issues of importance to the political and socioeconomic structures that affect their lives.
Taladoon was created to respond to the increasing reliance of our communities on social electronic media for news and the exchange of information- technical, scientific and cultural.
The platform will include feature articles and opinion pieces, podcasts and moderated discussion forums on a variety of subjects including:
- Parliamentary developments in furtherance of democracy
- human rights and good governance
- promotion of civic action in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals
- gender equality
- prevention of violence against women.
Taladoon and talk.taladoon.com are managed by the Institute of Practical Research and Training (IPRT, www.iprt.info). IPRT, founded in 1998, is a non-governmental, independent organization which promotes local initiatives in health, education and good governance. Since its founding, IPRT has organized many conferences and workshops on post-conflict reconstruction and democratization and has trained thousands of young people in skills ranging from technical skills in TVET format to media and journalism, community health workers and youth entrepreneurship and leadership.
